I will be checking online to see when the other video is posted....I am sure it will be better because the person videoing was MUCH closer than I was. Just trust me when I say that she could not have done any better - and it was pretty unique that she made it in to the finals as a freshman. Woo Hoo Chesley!!!!

Oh My Pie!

Here is a phrase that you can’t utter in front of me “I have never made a pie”…I just can’t live with it. In some strange and weird way I consider it my civic duty to make sure that everyone has created one of these homemade confections at least once. I do it in honor of my sweet Nanny Campbell who passed on these yummy recipes and instilled in all of us a love for “from scratch” baked goods.

Cambry’s BFF, Morgan, was our most recent attendee of a Hedger Pie Making Clinic. We relish any excuse to make pie. She decided to make a coconut cream pie and she did a wonderful job. I have to say…I think she is a natural in the kitchen. We laughed when  her first egg slid into the sink…we licked bowls…we cleaned a bazillion dishes…we stirred and stirred some more…we had a BLAST! Getting to eat a heavenly slice of pie afterwards is just the icing on the cake…meringue on the pie!

 

 

Spring Break Tonsillitis

I am sitting at the computer looking at blogs and I hear the unmistakeable sound of gargling coming from the bathroom. The "gargler" would be Cutter who has tonsils that look like they have gangrene and was just issued a nice bottle of antibiotics today at the doctor's office. He went to the bathroom and gargled without being told and he takes liquid medicine like a champ...what did I do to deserve this kid!

FYI: Gargling is the act in which one bubbles a liquid in one's mouth. It usually requires that the head be tilted back, allowing a mouthful of liquid to sit in the upper throat. The head can be tilted by extending either the neck or the back, depending on what is comfortable for the gargler. Air is then expelled from the lungs, causing the liquid to bubble and undulate throughout the throat and mouth region.
Have I ever told you that I love wikipedia!

Why I love Book Fairs

Tonight I waited in a line that went from the library entrance to the door on the opposite side…it was long! Normally, that would cause me to cart ditch and run for home but I couldn’t bear the disappointment of my little first grade man. It does get easier the older they get! (just ask the girls) Here is the evidence as to why it was easy to drop 49 dollars and some change at the book fair tonight…

I found Cutter reading his book in bed without any prompting and he was sad to hear that it was time to go to sleep….awwww! It was also worth it to hear Cutter’s friend tell him (while we were waiting in above mentioned line) that it was a really good book that has a character in it called Captain Pee Pee Pants. I doubt seriously this little boy has actually read the books because he then proceeded to tell Cutter that said character was made out of ….POOP! You just have to love little boys. I will be sure to get the low down from Cutter when he is finished.

A Random Posting of Nothing Much!

I really have nothing to post about these days – I am not exaggerating. Don’t misunderstand me…we are CRAZY busy with everyday mundane things like going to work and transporting kids here and there. My house is officially a disaster zone and I have absolutely NO desire to rectify the situation. I actually took my ironing and hid it the last time we had company and I still have not retrieved it from the back of the closet – I am considering the fact that we never really “liked” any of those clothes anyway! Maybe it is the Winter blahs. I am looking forward to Spring but not necessarily the addition of more responsibilities. Chance and I will be on our toes trying to keep up with everyone’s schedules. Chance is coaching Cutter’s baseball team, Cambry is playing on a softball team, and Chesley is playing JV softball for Canyon. I envision lots of hours parked at practices and playing on my laptop!

We celebrated a very special 1st birthday at the end of February – Campbell turned 1. It has been an awesome year with that little stinker….looking forward to the terrible wonderful two’s next!
